Electronic Arts publishers of popular titles like 'Spore' and 'The Sims2: Apartment Pets' have announced a new DRM scheme that will replace it's current controversial one effective immediately. Instead of limiting the number of times a legal purchaser can install a game, the new DRM will stop the user from installing the game at all. Instead, a notice will appear on the screen prompting them to contact EA customer service and answer a series of 'loyalty questions' that will enable them to proceed to DRM Level 2. At that point, they will be directed to an authorized EA Gaming Center where they will be able to sit at a kiosk and play the game for up to 25 minutes per day.

'We believe this is the fairest, least obtrusive way to protect ourselves from piracy and still deliver the innovative gaming experience people have come to love from EA'. Said EA spokesman Trevor Huckabee. Although many consumers think this new DRM scheme is excessive, some are delighted at the new anti-piracy methods. Shawn Kite told us 'I love hiking down to the local 'EA Hut' and playing Battlefield 1942. They have sodas for only 2 dollars and chair rental is worth the extra 20 bucks. Plus this really hot cashier says 'Hi' to me by name when she swipes my credit card. I think I love her.'

EA plans on implementing the "No Installs,No Problems" DRM program across all of it's games in the coming months."
